We had 2 days here.
Florence is such a cultural city.
It was so beautiful.
We got there mid afternoon and went out to eat
And then just walked around for hours.
Florence also has a ton of canals and famous bridges.
It is a fairly good size city but all the main sights
Are withing walking distance.
We were lucky to see the most beautiful sunset over the water.
It was breathtaking.
{can you tell i was obsessed with the sunset?}
{these are some of my favorite shots ever}
Then we just walked around until dark
The next day
{we had a full day}
we left our hotel room around 10
{and didn’t get back until about the same time that night}
We we wanting to buy tickets to the famous
Uffizi Gallery
{it is up there with the Louvre}
And the David statue at the Accademia Gallery.
We were sad because we heard that you have to
Book your tickets at least a month in advance for these galleries.
We stopped by the tourism office just to see what
Other things we could do since the Uffizi and Accademia were booked
She surprisingly told us that
The last Tuesday of every month,
The main galleries
{the ones we wanted}
{the ones we wanted}
Were FREE from 7-11 pm.
We could not believe.
The one day we are here to tour,
Is the ONE day a month this happens.
So we got to tour both for FREE!
We were so grateful!
{the famous David}
It was quite the line,
But we didn’t care.
So during the day we wanted to just wander around the city
And just go with the flow.
We hiked up to the top of the Duomo
{we hiked the dome}
I don’t think I have walked up that many stairs
In my whole life.
It took probably 30-45 minutes of just pure stairs
And we were in these tiny tunnel stairways
{steep, dark, humid, small}
but man was it worth it once we got to the top
A lot of the tourists just took a few pictures and rushed through
We thought,
We worked so hard for this
And its so beautiful.
Whats the rush!
So we sat on the marble stair right next to the edge
And just took in the view it all of its entirety
For a good half hour.
Before we headed back down.
We stayed out until dark again
Got dinner.
Watched another amazing sunset.
And finally called it a night
What a good day!
here are a few random pictures:
